ROCKPORT -- The state Department of Social Services is investigating two Rockport residents for allegations they physically abused their 12-week-old daughter.
Work may begin as soon as Monday to ensure the bleachers are safe at Newell Stadium, allowing the season-opening football game against Chelmsford to go on Sept. 10 without any loss of seating.
It was chilly and gray in Athens for the first day of contests when the Olympics were revived in 1896. James Brendan Connolly, a 27-year-old native of South Boston who would later move to Gloucester, drew the last slot in the triple jump, the first event of the new games.
