Chances are there is a thrift shop that stocks furniture and home accessories in your own neighborhood.

"Furniture is the fastest-growing segment at second-hand stores around the country," says Adele Meyer, manager of the 1,100-member National Association of Resale and Thrift Shops in St. Clair Shores, Mich. "A lot of shops are expanding their home furnishings selection or opening a second location."

Those with internet access can search the association's website (http://www.narts.org) for member shops that carry home furnishings.
