Amesbury Days honors civil defense workers
Amesbury Days started at the turn of the century as a one-day outing
at Lake Gardner for the employees of the town's various mills and has since
grown to a multi-day celebration.
This year's program offers activities for all ages and tastes, including
historical exhibits, music, arts and crafts, shopping, sports, food and
dance. Each day will bring music and other activities in the Millyard,
just below the municipal parking lot on Friend Street.
Friday, June 25
The traditional Strawberry Festival, at the Main Street Congregational
Church, and the Cultural Council's art and garden fest, and the Alliance
for Amesbury's annual golf tournament.
Sunday, June 27
Family Day in the Millyard with music activities and games in the Millyard
from noon to 8 p.m. The event ties to the grand opening of the Amesbury
Farmer's Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the municipal parking lot. A
total of 14 vendors will offer fresh produce and homemade goods from the
greater Amesbury community.
Wednesday, June 30
Children's Day at Town Park from noon to 8 p.m., featuring a variety
of performers with acts geared toward children, including Rex Trailer's
Country Variety Show, 2-3 p.m.; an animal show 4-5 p.m.; and the Hills
Mills Clown Band 6:30-8 p.m.
Saturday, July 3
Salisbury Point Railroad is hosting a rail fan day at the Bartlett Museum.
Sunday, July 4
Pancake breakfast at Town Park, sponsored by the United Methodist Church,
7-11 a.m. The Knight's of Columbus holds an "Auction in the Pines"
at Town Park, noon-4 p.m.
Then at Woodsom Farm, 4-8 p.m., people can enjoy games rides and entertainment.
At 6 p.m. L.J. and Mr. Slim take the stage with a performance for kids,
and the band Almost Cowboy will warm up the crowd for the fireworks at
9 p.m., with a rain date for the next night.
